Divinity

Divinity is seen as the existence of some entity(s), being(s), or spirit which is greater than mankind, or the sum of its parts.

There are many forms of divinity, based upon the religious beliefs of the person/people viewing the divine. In Christianity the concept of divinity is held in the Holy Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In other forms of religion (such as the pre-Christian Norse religion) the divine becomes a pantheon of divine beings, each possessing or exemplifying a virture of daily life or emotion. In animist traditions, everything in the universe has a divine aspect.

In universities, divinity is sometimes used as an alternate name for the academic study of theology.
